Lay Dominican Rites Ceremony Time Change

St. Thomas Aquinas Chapter, take note! We will be having our Rites ceremony this fall on Saturday, September 21st, at 10:00am (NEW TIME!) in St. Mary’s Catholic Church (downtown Greenville). This is a change from last year when we had it within a regular weekend Mass. As it will only be our chapter family attending, please make a point of coming and staying afterwards for fellowship!

Interested in the Dominican way?

Prior to our regular monthly meeting in September, Sr. Marie Isaac, Kristen, and TJ – along with several other Lay Dominicans – will be holding a “Meet and Greet” informational meeting in McGrady Hall (under the Church) at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 22nd. Please extend an invitation to anyone in your circle of influence who may wish to come and see if the way of St. Dominic is calling them. New inquirers are then invited to stay and join us for our regular meeting starting at 3pm for candidates, 3:30pm for temporary professed, and lasting until 5:00pm when we pray the Evening Office together. We hope to see you there! Use the “Contact” page of this website if you’d like any more information.

Remember as we approach profession day and the Feast of St. Dominic…

THE SACRED PENITENTIARY, by special and express Apostolic Authority, gladly concedes  a plenary indulgence to be acquired by Dominican members, provided the usual conditions (confession, communion and prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff) are properly fulfilled, who make or renew, at least privately, the promise to faithfully observe the statutes of the fraternity:

1. – on the day of admission and on the day of first profession;

2. – on the feast days of the Birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ; the Pasch of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary;  St Dominic;  St Catherine of Siena;  the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The present remains in force in perpetuum without need of any Apostolic Letters executed in the short form. All things to the contrary notwithstanding.

A message from our Provincial President to guide your own studies…

Dear Brothers and Sisters in St. Dominic, Catherine, and Martin,

As we continue to countdown to 2016, Jubilee of the Foundation of the Order of Preachers, the theme for 2013 is:

“Do unto me according to your Word” (Luke 1:38) : Mary, Contemplation and Preaching the Word.

Your Dominican sister,

Jo Ann Cotterman, OP

Provincial President
Dominican Laity Executive Council
